🇹🇷 Türkiye: visa and tax day limits

Ready-made rules count your days against the limits the law names. They don't decide your visa or residency status, and many laws add conditions a day count can't see.

Ready-Made Rules

What the rules say

Visitor stays

Türkiye admits many nationalities visa-free or with an e-Visa for short visits, commonly limited to 90 days within any 180-day period. Requirements vary by nationality.

Longer stays

Staying beyond the short-stay allowance requires a residence permit (or a work permit). This is usually applied for online through e-İkamet and at a local migration office in Türkiye.

Tax residency

Türkiye can treat you as tax resident if your domicile is there, or if you stay there continuously for more than six months in a calendar year; short trips abroad don't break that stay. For foreign nationals, stays for some purposes, such as travel, study or medical treatment, can be treated differently. A Stay Limit rule of at most 181 days per calendar year can track the days you are there, which can be fewer than the legal count.
