Australia: 183 days in the income year
Under 183 days between 1 July and 30 June
About This Rule
Counts your days in Australia in each income year, 1 July to 30 June, including the days you arrive and leave. Under the 183-day test, if you are in Australia for more than half the income year, continuously or intermittently, you are resident unless your usual place of abode is outside Australia and you have no intention to take up residence here. Australia's other residency tests can make you resident with fewer days. This tracks the day count only.
Also Requires
- A usual place of abode in Australia, or an intention to take up residence there

Ready-made rules count your days against the limits the law names. They don't decide your visa or residency status, and many laws add conditions a day count can't see.
