Tax

China: 183 days in a calendar year

Under 183 full days in mainland China each calendar year

About This Rule

Counts your days in mainland China each tax year, 1 January to 31 December. If you have no domicile in China, you are a resident individual once you have resided there for an aggregate of 183 days or more in the tax year; only a day with a full 24 hours in China counts, so add arrival and departure times to your stays. After six consecutive such years with no single trip out of China of more than 30 days, income from outside China becomes taxable too; the app doesn't track that six-year count. A domicile in China makes you resident regardless of days, and this tracks the day count only.

Ready-made rules count your days against the limits the law names. They don't decide your visa or residency status, and many laws add conditions a day count can't see.
