France: more than 6 months in a year
Under 6 months in France in the calendar year
About This Rule
Counts your days in France each calendar year: staying more than 6 months in a given year generally makes France your main place of stay, one way to be tax domiciled there. The limit is 181 days, so the card flags day 182, the first day that can be more than 6 months. The 6 months is not an absolute test: spending clearly more time in France than in any other country can also make it your main place of stay, and your home or family (foyer), your main work or the centre of your economic interests in France can each make you resident on their own, whatever your day count.

Ready-made rules count your days against the limits the law names. They don't decide your visa or residency status, and many laws add conditions a day count can't see.
