United Arab Emirates: 180 days outside (residence visa)

No more than 180 days in a row outside the UAE

About This Rule

Counts how many days in a row you have been outside the UAE; the days you leave and return count as days in the UAE. If an expatriate resident lives outside the UAE for more than 180 days continuously, the residence visa is nullified automatically and a new entry permit is needed to return. Some residents are exempt, including Golden Visa holders, students enrolled abroad, residents sent abroad for treatment with a medical report approved in the UAE, and investors holding valid residence visas. The official page doesn't say how the days you travel are counted, so the app warns a day early, after 179 days in a row, in case the day you leave counts as a day outside; it does not decide whether your visa is still valid.

Ready-made rules count your days against the limits the law names. They don't decide your visa or residency status, and many laws add conditions a day count can't see.
