Singapore: 60 days of short-term employment

Up to 60 days working in Singapore each calendar year

About This Rule

Counts your days in Singapore each calendar year, as a stand-in for your days of employment there. If you are a non-resident and exercised employment in Singapore for 60 days or less in a year, that short-term employment income is exempt from tax. Days of employment include weekends and public holidays, and temporary absences during your employment, such as vacation leave abroad, still count as employment days, which this count of days in Singapore can't see. This tracks the day count only.

Also Requires

  • Not a Singapore tax resident
  • Employment income, not paid as a board director, public entertainer or professional
  • No absences from Singapore incidental to the Singapore employment, such as business trips abroad

Ready-made rules count your days against the limits the law names. They don't decide your visa or residency status, and many laws add conditions a day count can't see.
